HDTV Calibration | Audio Calibration

You've finally purchased that widescreen HDTV that you've been dreaming of. The picture is huge compared to your old TV, and the colors are bright, but you're a little underwhelmed with the picture? Why? Not enough detail in the shadows and dark areas, like the guy with the black tuxedo that has no detail, or the shaded area under a cowboy hat that's completely black. How about the fish scales in the white stripes on "Nemo" that are missing, or the wrinkles in that wedding gown that you're not seeing?

The fact is that all new HDTV's are purposely misadjusted at the factory in order to compete with other brands on brightly lit showroom floors, and not in any way to give an accurate and detailed picture. From a marketing view, he who has the brightest picture wins! No matter that the grass may be lime green and that red shirt is bleeding. What about skin tones?

At TropiCalibration we are trained and certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) to obtain the best picture possible from your HDTV. Using highly specialized electronic testing equipment and accessing adjustments available only through factory service modes (which are not available to the consumer) we will bring your HDTV to NTSC standards by accurately adjusting white balance, gray scale tracking, and all luminance and chroma settings in order to achieve the spectacular picture that the producer intended you to see. We'll set up Day and Night time modes on your HDTV for better viewing and reduced eye fatigue from overbright images. You'll enjoy a vivid, detailed film-like image like never before, making your entire viewing experience more believable, drawing you right into the picture.

HDTV's come "out of the box" with oversaturated, inaccurate colors, blacks that are adjusted to crush detail and whites that are turned up to give the brightest possible picture but sacrifice detail due to being overdriven. Even the actual color of white that the television is set to (have you ever gone into a paint store to buy white paint? Then you know how many different shades and tones of white there are) is driven far into the blue spectrum by manufacturers in order to appear brighter, and is not set to the NTSC standard 6500K  that reproduces accurate and natural colors.

When color television was adopted in the early 1950's, standards were set by the NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) for accurate color reproduction, but these guidelines have not been followed by manufacturers since they are in the business of selling TV's, not accurate picture reproduction. All of the new HDTV's, whether LCD, Plasma, or projection models are capable of producing vivid, accurate and detailed pictures.
